Tressie Fife began climbing outdoors in 2014 on the island of Oahu, where she was first introduced to waterfall rappelling—also known as waterfall catching. While distinct from climbing, that experience sparked her connection to vertical movement and the outdoors. She later developed a technical climbing style, gravitating toward crimpy, sequence-heavy routes that require problem-solving and adaptability. As a shorter climber, she often cannot rely on standard beta and instead builds her own solutions, approaching each route as a puzzle. She describes climbing as “ballet on a wall,” emphasizing precision, control, and intentional movement. After relocating to Indiana in 2019, she became driven to help expand both climbing access and the sense of community around it.
Tressie serves as Secretary of the Indiana Climbers Coalition, where she focuses on organizational alignment, strategic development, and community engagement. In her professional role as a Senior Business Analyst, she leads strategy by turning complex data into clear, actionable insights. She brings a structured, systems-focused approach to ICC, prioritizing initiatives that are scalable, sustainable, and aligned with long-term goals. Her work centers on strengthening ICC’s impact while promoting shared responsibility across the climbing community.
